So far, there has been some question about the Samsung Galaxy Note 8's model number. For the most part, we have seen SM-N950 used to designate the unlocked version of the phablet. And while it really isn't a major deal in the scheme of things, an inadvertent leak by Samsung Australia indicates that the model number of Sammy's next high-end handset is actually SM-N940. That is the model number listed on the Samsung Australia website, which published information about a free screen repair for Note 8 users who break the display.

The "Screen Assure" promotion is being offered by Samsung Australia and there is no word on whether it will be offered in other markets. The promotion begins on Friday, August 25th. That is two-days after the Galaxy Note 8 is expected to be unveiled at a Samsung Unpacked event on August 23rd. The promotion runs through October 31st, 2017. Considering that a promotion to repair for free a cracked Galaxy Note 8 screen would be worthless if the phone wasn't in consumers' hands, that could suggest that the device will be launched on August 25th. Samsung could be looking to rush things along considering that Apple's 2017 iPhone models are expected to be unveiled in September.
